1)Hi buddy, can you please tell us little bit about your journey into the music?
Did you play any instrument when you were growing up or was it just a pure coincidence that you got involved in the breakbeat culture movement?
I saw Pink Floyd at 3 years old and that moment made a lasting impression on me. I also went to loads of UK festivals growing up and was exposed up lots of different music, theatre and fringe culture. When I moved to Bristol in 1985 I discovered Hip Hop, Acid House and Rave music shortly after the seeds for Jungle and Drum and Bass were planted. I don’t play any particular musical instrument, but I do look at the computer and the arrangement as my instrument and try to make it sing the song in my head.
2) As the years went the way how music is made changed a lot. Are you more of a hands on guy or you got comfortable with the software and computer based production?
I’m very hands on in the studio and produce, mix and engineer all of my music. I have always enjoyed collaborating with other artists and have had some great results doing so. Recently I had been working closely with a very talented producer called Dismantle under the name DieMantle. We have produced a load of different vibes and styles and keep a open minded approach to production.
3) After celebrating 2 decades in the music industry what are your plans for the future?
Plans for the future are to keep making and releasing dope music on my label GutterFunk. We’ve been working very hard to create and shape our sound and we are sitting in loads of stuff. There’s a DieMantle EP about to drop and also a (various artist) LP called ‘All Subject To Vibes’ that will showcase the full versatility of the label. Also Addison Groove has a project in the works and be on the lookout for more music from the mysterious Nuff Pedals.
4) Musicans life is not always that easy.
Do you have any ritualas or rutines that you practice if you want to recharge your energy?
Regular exercise, good food and sleep are the keys. I ride a bike and I do a bit of yoga now and again. Very Rock n Roll.
5) Your favorite book?
Favourite book is Thrasher ‘Skate and Destroy’ it’s full of amazing skate photos and does not have many words witch suits me great as I’m a Dyslexic.
6) Whats the best advice you got or would like to give to anyone?
My advice to anyone is to somehow find a way to keep it going. Learn your craft and find your path, work hard and challenge yourself to be the best you can and try to be original. It’s not all gonna be easy but if you truly love what you do you will find a way to make it work.
Thanks a lot and we are really excited to see you soon in Prague!! :)
