ANA.LOCK
Another instalment of our techno night Ana.Lock, this time with Oskar Offermann Official.
ROOM1
Oskar Offermann (White records, Berlin)
“when the dancer disappears and only the dance remains, it is meditation“ the indian philosopher osho ones said. for the frankfurt-born, berlin-based producer and dj oskar offermann music is some kind of meditation, too. for him sound has the power to go beyond time and space. already as a teen he started to do music, primarily as a drummer in grunge and punk bands.
when he was 16 hip-hop hit him hard and he started to produce beats on his mpc that he uses till today. with 20 he moved to berlin and one night he landed in the old panoramabar at ostgut where zip celebrated a “get perlonized” night.
all of a sudden the virus called dance music infected him - even though he already danced some nights away at the legendary robert johnson club situated close to his hometown frankfurt.
before dropping his first house tracks he launched the label white in 2007 together with a friend. followed by a second one called rimini in 2011 - a musical outlet for special edits that do not only thrill the dancers.
his productions quickly gained global fame due to their heartfelt rhythms and sensible melodies.
after countless ep’s and a celebrated album on his own labels and befriended addresses like aim, thema and riverette he now is ready to drop another magical longplayer. this time on japan’s finest mule musiq, that already welcomed offermann with one deeply moving ep in 2012.
the new album is called “le grand to do” and most tracks he produced in 2014 – a year in which offermann started to eat part time vegan and dived deeply into himself through meditation. the desire for peace did not only emerge to compensate his wild and sleepless life as a dj.
also his interest in new age music made him listen more to his inner voice. the tracks he produced during this period of introspection have been crafted with a very disciplined mode of operation on cheap drum machines like an alesis hr-16, a boss dr660, a yamaha rx 70, computer and other synths.
they groove with modern rhythms, have breaks to shake up your senses and to make you dance even if you never moved your feet before. all works like spaceship to a different galaxy or just as a little helper that guides physical energies into new paths.
for oskar “music is the direct access to the soul” and all tracks on “le grand to do“ are made with the intention to go further then party. they are his very own reflection on esoteric spheres, without being fully esoteric.
you can hear his shaking past as a drummer and lover of hip-hop breaks in tricky tracks like “i wonder” or “find yourself”. with gems like “carol’s howl” or “banunanas” he serves house that massages body and mind deeply.
vocal samples float around, heartfelt chords bewitch and gently melodies pop up to twist the senses. and even if new age heavily influenced all – in first place his new record is made for the dancefloor. it relieves tension, spreads meditative energy and delivers emotions that stay. forever.

Dreems (MultiCulti, Australia)
"I can hear myself pushing you over the edge of a rhythmic cliff into the deep escape, nestled just beneath your wildest visions, far past the flavour of your every inhibition."
Cosmic Sherpa. Liberator of Tantric Avatars. Australian. Dreems has a message for you, one expressed not only through the animal lifeblood of his music, but through the efforts of his label Multi Culti. With a roster featuring artists like Clarian, Thomash, Crowdpleaser, and label co-shaman Thomas Von Party, the imprint strains and throbs against the restrictive meta-thongs of contemporary electronic lifestyle living to offer a pan-globo-sexual soulstyle for our times.
Set for release this fall, Dreems' self-titled debut album is a testament to his knowledge of distant lands and musics, taking you on a psychedelic vibeabout beyond all borders, whirling in a primordial soup of barely understood sonic innovation. His hypnotic reveries have already earned support from taste-making dance wizards like Trevor Jackson, Ivan Smagghe, Roman Fluegel & Andrew Weatherall.
"I am on a mission, a quest to free you from the divisive shackles of flags and tongues," says Dreems. "Whatever your culture, sex, or species, there is a place in your heart for light, sound, and dance, and that is where I will make my home."
